President’s Message

Welcome to the official site of the Sussex County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (SCAC-DST). I bring you greetings on the behalf of our members dedicated and

committed to providing public service to Sussex County.  Since 1988, this chapter has continued to promote academic excellence through scholarships, mentoring to the youth, providing support to those underserved, and partnering with other organizations with the same commitment to serving the community.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913 by 22 phenomenal trendsetters who saw no

limit to their vision for sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Delta's Founders stepped out on faith to march with the suffragettes and took a stand for social justice as their first public act. More than 109 years later we pride ourselves by following in the footsteps of our Founders and remain at the forefront of the action as a voice for those in need. The major programs of Sussex County Alumnae are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development

  • Educational Development

  • International Awareness and Involvement

  • Physical and Mental Health

  • Social Action

Our programs include our scholarship program, our youth initiatives – Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy (middle school girls), Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS (high school girls), EMBODI (middle and high school boys), and Young Entrepreneurs (teens male and female).

Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that are seeking a chapter to join are encouraged to attend our chapter meetings. Members of the Sussex County Alumnae Chapter would love to meet you. We invite you to join us on this journey to make even more significant contributions as we continue to serve Sussex County, Delaware.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website! Please visit this site often, as it will be filled with information regarding our fundraisers and community service projects. I invite your involvement in our community projects.
